Juvenile Division
The Juvenile Division is responsible for the prosecution of offenders under the age of 17, who may be subject to the jurisdiction of the Family Division of the Wayne County Third Circuit Court.
SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS
Correct Course
The Correct Course program is designed to identify and divert “at-risk” youth charged misdemeanor and status offenses that are motivated to confront their legal and behavior issues.
Domestic Violence Diversion Docket
Qualified, first-time juvenile offenders of domestic violence are given the opportunity to complete anger management, or domestic violence counseling in lieu of out-of-home detention and formal prosecution.
Teen Court
This diversion program is for first-time teen offenders of minor crime who are willing to admit responsibility and be subject to a disposition of a peer jury. Teen Courts currently operate in the Romulus and Detroit Public School districts.
Young Offender Program
With the consent of the victim, juveniles under 13 years of age who commit property crimes and minor assaults are provided an opportunity to complete community service, anger management counseling and pay restitution (if applicable) in lieu of formal prosecution.
Erase Truancy Program
This nationally recognized intervention program identifies and addresses the behavior of youth who are chronically truant from school.
Adolescent Sex Offender Program
This program is designed to screen, treat and intensively monitor first-time juvenile offenders who commit an act of sexual misconduct.
Juvenile Drug Court (STAND Program)
Nine-month program of intensive outpatient drug treatment is available for first-time drug or alcohol offenders who are committed to addressing their substance abuse problems.
