Services
The Community Corrections Division collaborates with a wide range of criminal justice
system practitioners to plan, develop and administer community-based confinement
alternatives for adult offenders. The Division provides eligibility screening and
assessment, substance abuse treatment services as well as offender accountability
programs.
These services are divided into two groups: Treatment and Alternative Housing.
The purpose of the Community Corrections is to provide treatment, alternative program
options, case management, and other supportive services for adult offenders enrolled
in Children and Family Services programs so they can lead productive and crime free
lives.
Treatment and Alternative Housing programs provide public safety, and alternatives
to confinement to Wayne County adult offenders so they can obtain the skills needed
to be productive members in the community.

Adult Case Management program is to provide screening, assessment, and program referral
services to adult offenders so they can benefit from alternatives to incarceration,
and save government resources.

In addition, the County oversees the Alternative Work Force (AWF)
Alternative Work Force (AWF) Program provides an alternative to jail, saving jail
bed costs. Further it allows Wayne County to offer its communities and organizations
labor assistance so they can experience a reduction in associated costs.
STEP
The Wayne County Second chance Through Expungement Program (STEP) provides job training,
education, and expungement services to Wayne County residents with one non-violent
conviction so they can improve their quality of life.

COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS MANAGEMENT
Community Corrections Management endeavors to secure funding, provide administrative
oversight, contract management, and ensures program integrity and compliance with
state minimum program standards by County providers to adult offenders enrolled
in Children and Family Services programs so they can benefit from the highest quality
of treatment, detention, and diversion programs.

Diversion and Early Intervention
The Juvenile Diversion program provides assessment, counseling, and community restitution
services for Wayne County at-risk youth so they can participate in community and
school activities and avoid involvement in the juvenile justice system for one year
after completion.
Early Intervention programs provide prevention, educational services, recreation
and mentoring, and family support services to Wayne County at-risk youth under 17
years old so they can avoid entry into the juvenile justice system.

The Prevention Division also monitors special grant programs, like Kids Talk.
The Kids Talk Program provides rehabilitative and support services to Wayne County
youth ages 12 and under who have witnessed or been victimized by crime so that they
feel more comfortable speaking to law enforcement and the Court.
In addition, the Prevention Services Management Program provides funding, grant
and contract management, and compliance oversight to organizations that provide
juvenile diversion, early intervention, and Kids Talk services to Wayne County youth.
Juvenile Intake and Detention Program provides access to secure detention, diversion
to electronically monitored detention, detention population management, and legally
receive a juvenile from the court on behalf of Wayne County services so that juveniles
and their families can participate in ongoing supervision and treatment services.

The Juvenile and Family assessment program provides comprehensive assessment and
referral services to adjudicated juveniles and their families so they can receive
treatment at the indicated level of care in order to live law abiding lives.

The Juvenile Services Management Program provides statutory compliance mandate assurance,
program development, contract management, and quality assurance services to provider
agencies so that they can provide quality intake, detention, assessment, and family
services to adjudicated Wayne County juveniles.

The purpose of the Enforcement program is to provide behavioral monitoring and apprehension
services for Wayne County Citizens so they can be ensured that non-compliant juveniles
are apprehended in a timely manner and that the juveniles will continue their mandated
programs.
This Division also provides a Child Rescue program which investigations and provides
precautionary services for children and their social workers so they can be safely
removed from dangerous situations.
The Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility provides detention, protection, health,
and wellness services to residents of the facility so they can become healthy, responsible
members of the community.
The Juvenile Offender Wellness program provides health and welfare services to residents
of the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility so they can leave the Juvenile Detention
Facility healthier physically, mentally, socially, educationally than when they
arrived.

Cooperative Extension Services Agency (CESA)helps people improve their lives through
an educational process that applies knowledge to critical issues, needs and opportunities.
Programs includes: 4-H, Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), Youth
EFNEP, Family Nutrition Program(FNP), Building Strong Families, a parenting program
(BSF), the Breast Feeding Initiative(BFI), and financial literacy.
